Custom millwork is what we do. HotWalls Studio designs, fabricates and installs bespoke wall systems, built-in cabinetry, and architectural millwork for New York homes. Every piece is built to the room — not to a catalog — and every install is handled by our own crew.
Our millwork programs cover the full range: full-wall compositions with illuminated stone shelving, sliding-door media walls, continuous kitchen-to-living cabinetry, pantry and serving programs, fluted columns, ceiling-height door fronts, and integrated AV and lighting. Materials run from solid hardwoods and engineered oak to natural stone, lacquered MDF and brushed metals.
We work across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey. Lead times typically run 4 to 8 weeks from design approval to a finished install in your home.

What does "custom millwork" actually mean?+
Millwork is anything finished wood or composite that gets built into a building — cabinetry, paneling, trim, built-in shelving, wall systems, doors. "Custom" means designed and built for a specific room rather than pulled from a catalog. Our work is fully custom: every piece is engineered to the dimensions, finishes, and use case of your space.
How is custom millwork different from buying pre-made cabinets?+
Pre-made cabinets are sized in standard increments (e.g. 24" wide, 30" wide) and assembled with filler strips to fit a wall. Custom millwork is built to the exact dimensions of your room, with no fillers, no gaps, and finishes selected for the specific lighting and palette of the space. The fit, the proportions, and the material quality are different categories of product.

HotWalls projects start at $6,480 for our entry HotWalls Modules system and scale to $27,000+ for full-wall STENASKA and MELD installations. How long does a custom millwork project take?+
Typical timeline is 6 to 10 weeks from first call to finished install: 1 to 2 weeks for consultation and design approval, 4 to 8 weeks of fabrication in our New York studio, then a 1 to 3 day install in your home.
Do you work in NYC co-ops and condos?+
Yes — routinely. We supply Certificates of Insurance, work within building alteration agreement requirements and approved hours, and panelize every piece for service-elevator transport.
